School Snow Day!

Yeah it snowed! And did it ever, about two feet or more! March, surprisingly, is the snowiest month for Colorado.
Landon's official Birthday (March 26th) started out with school being cancelled because of a huge blizzard that hit Denver. He thought it was awesome!

Dayton and Reece in their "snow chairs"

Reece getting ready to Jump off the wall. Just as he jumped, the camera man (dad) was helping Dayton with his glove and missed the shot. Oops.

Through rain, snow and sleet?? USPS at it's finest.

My mom had sent Landon a birthday package through the post office about three weeks ago. She taped a card with cash (the best kind of present) to the outside of a manila envelope and in the envelope she had sent a book for me. We were wondering what had happened to the package because it shouldn't take three weeks to go from Utah to Colorado. Anyway, I finally got the package and it had all kinds of stamps on it from the postal service. So I get it and call my mom to let her know we got it and I open up the package and there is suppose to be the book "Hawaii for Dummies" (since we are planning a trip to Hawaii in June) but instead there is some random book called "the curious incident of the dog in the night-time" ?? So with my mom on the phone I ask--"Did you send the wrong book?" She has never heard of the book about the dog. It is the envelope that she used because it has my return address on it (she had re-used an envelope from something I had sent her and didn't bother changing the return address). I just think this is really weird. The birthday card to Landon was still there with the money but somehow the book she sent was taken out and the dog book was put in the envelope. Weird, weird. So I went to our local post office and told them the story and they had no clue how that could happen.... so I can fill out a form 3760 (for lost mail) and they will forward that to the Atlanta Mail Recovery Unit where all the lost mail goes and see if they can find the book. RIGHT--I'll get right on that.

Star Wars episode IX---Landon's Birthday

Nine years ago in a Galaxy Far, Far away,
a baby boy of destiny was born. The Jedi council named
him Landon for they knew he was the chosen one. Recently the
Jedi Council has felt a disturbance in the force and has called upon Landon to
Start his Jedi Training. They have asked him to bring other brave younglings to train
with him in order to defeat the dark side, and you have been chosen. Please join us Your our
only Hope! May the Force be with you………..

“To Landon’s party go you must!”
-Master Yoda
The younglings arrived at the Jedi Training Academy and underwent Force Training (using the force to identify Star wars characters without seeing the picture), Yoda's strength training (obstacle course), Light Saber construction, Light Saber fight training, and Light saber and Force training combined. Ending with an "unexpected" visit from Darth Vader, Graduation Ceremonies, Celebration and Presents. It was a great day!
Darth Vader showed up at the party and the younglings took to him.
He didn't last long........

Posing in their scariest poses....
Refueling after graduating to Padawans. Mom was also a Jedi Master and was sporting the white Jedi robes along with Sadie. Dad, the boys and party guests wore the tan Jedi training vests. (Sadie looked super cute but fell asleep before I got the camera out!)

Yummy birthday cake although it was a total rip off! $27 dollars from Target? All it had was a star wars picture and a border...whoop dee do da. I guess I'll have to take up cake decorating.

All the boys had a good time and Landon loaded up on Bakugans and Star Wars legos. We love you Landon! Happy Birthday!

Shout Out!

While I'm blogging I wanted to give a quick "shout out" to my awesome husband Travis. I definitely married up. It's Monday morning and Travis awoke at the early morning hour of 4am. He had to catch a flight to San Francisco for the week. He could have left Sunday night but that would have meant one more night away from the family so being the awesome dad/husband he is he sacrificed his sleep to make life a little easier on us. He might not know that I do notice all the efforts he makes like this and thought I would write it down for all to see. If you think he is awesome for doing this make sure you leave a comment and maybe comment on how your spouse is awesome and why. Love you honey.

Mom

My mom has had her second treatment of chemo and is officially more bald than my dad. It is really hard to be away from her. I know there isn't anything I can do but it feels as if I'm leading a double life. I'm all the way in Colorado going about my day to day stuff and she is over in Utah getting chemo, being sick and fighting off the stupid cancer. I have guilt that I'm not there although I don't know how I could be. I think many of us feel guilt or struggle with things we can't change. Two more treatments to go. I love you mom.

Spoke too soon........ (kidding)

So my last post was about how I wasn't going to complain anymore and I really felt good about that. Not too many days after that post I was asked to serve as the second counselor in the Primary. That's what I get for trying to have a good attitude. I'm totally kidding and actually excited to be able to be with my kids in primary. Plus we have an awesome Primary President and 1st counselor so it should all be fine. Of course I have no idea what I am doing so far so maybe that feeling will change once I learn more. (Again with the kidding). I attended one presidency meeting and realized how much effort our leaders put in to serving the children in our ward and how much they love the kids so make sure you tell the leaders in your wards how much you appreciate them. Good lesson for me to learn, I'm sure there are more lessons in store.

Attitude of Gratitude

This post is mainly for myself but you are welcome to read. Many of you know or have heard me talk about how Travis travels a lot for his job. Well Sunday night he was preparing for a trip to NYC and we were all saying our goodbye's and Landon starting crying and complaining about how he is gone and then Dayton joined in as well. It is something that has happened before and it isn't always the kids that have initiated it. Something clicked in me and I just said "NO MORE". I told the kids that they can miss their dad when he is gone and get excited for him to come home but we will not be complaining about him being gone ANYMORE! I then explained how we are very fortunate that our dad has a good job and is able to provide all the needs and wants for our family and that we need to show gratitude and support to him and gratitude to our Heavenly Father for giving us this blessing. Complaining about it isn't the way we show gratitude. Especially now with all that is going on in the economy and so many people are out of work and losing their homes and struggling and would be so grateful for such opportunities as we have been given, I just can't stomach any more negativity. I feel responsible for the "culture" of whining about Travis being gone because I feel I created it in our home--so I am done now. When Travis was first approached about taking this job neither of us were on board. He was content with Pfizer and we didn't feel the need to change companies and have him traveling and away from our family so much. To make a long story short the offer kept coming to us in different ways and Travis finally said we should pray about this (novel idea). To be quite frank I didn't want to pray about it because I usually do get answers to my prayers and I didn't want the answer to this prayer to be that we should take this job so I didn't pray about it (I know, I'm a pillar of faith). Anyway, Travis did pray and felt he should take the job. So begrudgingly I supported him and have dragged my feet all the way trying to have a happy face but more faking it than actually feeling it. Although I was "obedient" to what we were suppose to do it has been hard because I've been feeling sorry for myself and my kids have picked up on that and others have picked up on that and now whenever anybody asks me "if Travis is out of town?" it is in a sympathetic way instead of just a normal conversational way. Have I made myself out to be such a martyr?? Apparently I have and I'm sorry for that. "Wow, poor me, I have an awesome family, a husband who works hard and would do anything for me, a wonderful home and beautiful kids and everything anyone could ever want and then some..... I feel really bad for myself". It's a new chapter at the Jensen home of "NO-Whiners allowed" and I apologize to Travis for whining and to anyone else if you have been the recipient. Love to all.

Cute Idea

So I usually ignore all the "quizzes" on facebook and the "tagging" but Trav is out of town and I'm bored and sick of watching the news about the world collapsing and I don't have TIVO and by the time I get the kids to bed and turn on the TV there isn't anything good on and I don't feel like reading so I've been catching up reading friends blogs and saw this on my cousin Maran's and decided to steal the idea.

The first 3 people to respond to this post will get something made by me. My choice. Made especially for you.

I've been Tagged

Hear it goes! Go to document setting/my pictures on your computer. Choose your 6th file. Choose your 6th picture. Blog about it. Tag 6 people.

My friend Melinda tagged me! Sucka!

This is a picture from July 2006. We were in Utah waterskiing with my brother Travis and his wife Erica. Here is a picture of my husband Travis and Dayton jumping in the water for fun. I remember this day clearly because this was when I was training for a marathon and I had run 18 miles earlier this morning, then I tried to get up on waterskiis and lasted about 20 seconds before my legs said "were done" and I let go of the rope. Hubby Trav rocked it on the kneeboard and brother Trav rocked it on the skiis. Landon and Dayton did the tube thing with dad Trav and then my brother Travis tried to kill Erica and me in the tube by going mock speed. We all survived. It was a fun outing!

Okay so now I have to tag 6 people....hmmm....... I'll tag Susan, Tami, Angela, Natalie, Kristin, and Laura!
